Program:  From the Capitol to the Classroom

When Parents United began more than 10 years ago, the major education challenges of the day were related to school funding. Since that time state legislation has significantly altered the outlook for our students and the schools that serve them.

Giant shifts in testing, curriculum, teacher preparation, licensure and evaluation, early learning, literacy – all have taken place in the last decade.  It is time to take a deeper look at what this accumulation of changes, both at the state and national levels, means to our students today and when they head back to school in September. We’ll talk about all of it – come join the conversation!

We will also honor Representative Kathy Brynaert for her years of service in the Minnesota House. Retiring after this session, Rep. Brynaert has been a champion for research-based policy and an exemplary colleague to both sides of the aisle in her service to Minnesota’s schools.
