Activity and athletic fees in South Washington County Schools could increase this coming school year.

The proposed bump would bring in an extra $100,000 in revenue; part the budget adjustments the district needs to make to the 2012-13 school year budget.

School board members will vote on next year’s proposed budget of $155.7 million at their Thursday, June 28, meeting. Estimates show they district will bring in about $152.7 million in revenue next year, so district officials want to dip into reserves to make up the $3 million difference.

The proposal is an across-the-board increase of $25 for all Minnesota State High School League athletics and activities. The family cap will be $475 per year, up from $400. Families that qualify for free and reduced-price school lunches may still be eligible for financial assistance.

The last time South Washington County increased fees for activities and athletics was 2003.
