Oklahoma’s Preschools are Some of the Best in the Nation

The state of Oklahoma is not a leader progressive, innovative education models. In fact, it is better known for conservative politics and trends. Yet, 76% of their 4-year-olds are currently enrolled in universal preschool. A February 2, 2016 Hechinger Report tells the story of why Oklahoma’s Preschools are Some of the Best in the Nation. It offers a fascinating quote from Malinda Lindsay of Muskogee Early Childhood Center, “I’m not sure [public prekindergarten] is a liberal or conservative issue. It’s about people wanting to do the best thing for kids.”
