After recent news flared that St. Cloud was an inhospitable place for Muslims to live, local residents organized a community conversation called, “Muslim in Minnesota.” The event was hosted by Minnesota Public Radio with Tom Weber moderating. Four St. Cloud Somali residents talked about challenges, concerns and next steps. Ben Rodgers of the St. Could Times reported on the event, offering “Hassan Yussuf said the main cure for the issue is to constantly have conversation.” Rodgers quoted Yussuf, who explained, “In our religion, we are taught you are not a correct Muslim if you are not aware of the affairs of your neighbor.”
